Gomez is the main protagonist of the game FEZ, who the player controls throughout it. After being bequeathed the titular hat from the HexahedronGomez becomes aware of the 3rd dimension and is assigned the task of reclaiming all 32 Cubes and saving his universe, with the help of his companion Dot.

Trivia[]

  • In previous versions of FEZ, there were multiple bugs regarding Gomez's movements and mechanics before being resolved:
    • Before Version 1.09, Gomez looked the incorrect way when looking around with the mouse drag.
    • Before Version 1.10, Gomez sometimes launched in the air in one of the Industrial Areas.
    • Before Version 1.12, the following issues were present before being fixed:
      • When respawning, Gomez warped behind objects when the last safe position was a ledge grab.
      • Gomez could wrap around ledges obscured from the camera.
      • Gomez would end up in the background after adjusting to a ground position, when rotating, while overlapping a wall in an alcove.
      • Gomez's depth position was unstable when sandwiched between two walls.
      • Gomez could enter tunnels (open doorways in the same room) in background mode when pressing up in a tunnel opening.
      • Gomez's sprite was misaligned when jumping with a bomb, and entering the Sewer Entry Room from the Sewer Pipe.
      • Grabbing corner ledges prevented Gomez from clipping out of interior rooms.
      • When talking to NPCs, Gomez warped to the NPC's locations instead of walking to them.
